Digital Downs Senior Classic Championship Final Colts and Fillies

The final race of the classics brings the older horses to show. Just 8 runners make this years final up but that doesn’t detract from the quality on show, with Evening Time looking the stand out performer this season and also the great Black Firenze.

Last seasons winner: Great expectation from Chrisman
Retired this season after 2 poor races, she came into last seasons race in poor form. I feel had the race been on firm instead of the lottery of sloppy, she may have struggled. I bet her owner was surprised as many at the result.

Evening Time from Chrismansachin
Last race: Bel 1m Dirt Fast – DDCQ 2nd

We start with what has to be one of the favourites. Amazingly this immaculately bred colt did not start racing until he was 4 but made up for lost time running 40 races this season, winning an astonishing 21 races and in the money a massive 36 times. He is consistent!! Looking closer at his form, it is noticeable that he has struggled to make an impression over todays trip and going and there lies the chink in his armour! Seems silly that a winner of 18 qualification races isn’t nailed on, but I believe at this level you have to have everything in your favour and that slight chink makes him open to getting beaten. I think distance rather than going will be his undoing.

Candy Coated from Sweet Stablessachin
Last race: Bel 1m Dirt Fast – DDCQ 1st

A winner of 3 of 16 qualification races, Candy coated comes into the race off the back of 2 impressive wins at this level, both on dirt, fast and her last 1 1/8 run on dirt culminated in a good 2nd place. She comes here bang in form after a barren period, but it is all about the final and she is primed and ready and Candy will be hoping she doesn’t leave herself too much to do at the line, as her habit of running many lengths back sometimes comes to haunt her.

Black Firenze from Galloping Ghostsachin
Last race: Bel 1m Dirt Fast – DDCQ 2nd

Black Firenze has been the most amazing horse I’ve seen in the game. Out of respect I will make no comment apart from wish her and galloping Ghost the very best and look forward to her offspring.

Gift From The Boss from Anfield Roadsachin
Last race: Bel 1m Dirt Fast – DDCQ 8th

Also entered into the sprint final 3 days earlier. She doesn’t have the ammo in her locker to take these on and has a better chance in the sprint. Has a little bit of form at distance and going but would need several to run below expectations to feature here

Ace Strong from Sweet Stablessachin
Last race: Cal 1 3/8m Dirt Fast – DDRQ 3rd

Her low, price tags after 2 sales and low earnings most likely tells us all we need to know about this Filly. Her owner, however, persevered with qualifiers and earnt her place here with 10 runs over classic and staying distances. Shown much better form in allowances and believe that is where we will see her next season

Lalapanzi from Indunasachin
Last race: Bel 1m Dirt Fast – DDCQ 8th

Much the same as a lot of these, his form has been up and down this season. 3 wins from 11 qualifying races, with 2 of her last races being over going and distance, so arrives in great form going forward. If she is gifted the 1 gate, Id be happy saying she will spring a surprise! She is definitely in the mix and can bring some earnings home.

Food Stamps from Anfield Roadsachin
Last race: Bel 1 1/8 Turf Soft – DDCQ 4th

Second offering for Anfield Road and much like his other, will run a better race in the earlier sprint. Form is too erratic to recommend and will be running to not finish last! Has won 10 out of 19 dirt races so may do better than expected, but very doubtful

So Wonderful from Bobby Dazzlersachin
Last race: Bel 1m Dirt Fast – DDCQ 3rd

The final classic entry belongs to the Dazzler. This well bred filly is not without a chance here. Just 13 lifetime runs, all at 4 years of age, she has amazing qualifying results; 10 runs, 3 wins, 4 2nds and 3 3rds. NEVER out of the money. Probably excels more over longer distances she brings top form into this race and Garry will be quietly believing she can win this. Has the most consistent form of any horse coming into these finals.

So Wonderful
