The Field
Hearts Cry Fire from Sweet Stables
Last race: Bel 1 1/8 Dirt Mud DDCQ – 4th
Superb breeding lines, winner of 5 Qualifier stakes races from 14 runs at that level. One of the top 2 year old, long sprinters this season. Won’t be ahead from the gate, but he will close like Usain bolt! An average rating of 97 over 24 races shows how prolific this colt has been. Must be high on any short list.
Tarynsreplacement from Taylorandtaryn
Last race: Bel 7F Turf fAlw – 4th
This highly tried winner of 3 Stakes races, accumulated 2nd highest number of points this season with 12 runs at this level, 2 wins coming early in the season. This gelding has been running competitively in allowance races but looks like the form of others has surpassed his early season success.
Liverpool Wildcat from Anfield Road
Last race: SA 6F Dirt Good DDCQ – 1st
Ultra-consistent gelding, running in 9 qualifying races, winning just one, but maybe importantly this win was his last race over 6F. Averaging 98 rating in 12 races, this gelding has impressive speed. Preferred surface is dirt and has run exclusively on this surface, so it will be a run into the unknown when it takes to the green stuff.
Gemo Babe from Chrisman
Last race: SA 6F Dirt Good DDCQ – 4th
Another very consistent stakes runner, averaging 98 over 10 races. Ran 8 qualifying races to grab 4th place, winning 2, and never out of the money in the others. Has proven himself on both dirt and turf and has a huge chance
Dazzling Emperor from the Bobby Dazzler stable
Last race: Bel 1 1/8 Dirt Mud DDCQ – 5th
Raced predominantly at stakes level, with 14 qualifying runs, winning 1 of them. His early season form was superb, however he has looked tired towards the end of the season and may not put his best foot forward now. 6F Turf seems his ideal distance, so he has a chance.
Tiz The Moon from Galloping Ghost
Last race: SA 6F Dirt Good DDCQ – 4th
One of a few horses that started life going through the conditions, running 4 times before he ran a qualifying race. This colt by DD-Malibu Moon has run 8 times at this level, competing with the best and earning Galloping Ghost some nice place money. Might just be tapped for speed against some of these.
Cant Beat Me from Dynamo
Last race: CAL 5F Dirt Good fAlw – 5th
Would you believe a gelding from Dynamo stable!! Looks an out and out short sprinter and if this were over 4 or 5F I’d be much happier. Has run 10 qualifiers, winning 1 along the way. This gelding by DD-Curlin has also won a Grade 3 and Grade 2 along his travels. Has shown ability on Turf despite preferring dirt, but there are maybe too many 6f horses in this final to see him grabbing a place.
Bulletproof Bomb from Nemesis
Last race: SA 6F Dirt Good DDCQ – 6th
This colt by DD-Tapit has been lightly raced this season, completing just 11 races, 10 at the highest level. Yet to win on turf and hard to make a case for Nemesis’ charge, showing disappointing form in his last 2 races.
Dazzling Alcohol from Pancho Racing Stables
Last race: Bel 6F Turf OpenAlw – 3rd
Well bred colt who has completed 17 races this season, 13 in qualifying races, winning 4 of those. Ran a nice time last time out over 6f turf in open allowance and comes into the final on the back of 2 wins last month. Will come from off the pace and expected to get in the money
Hells Angel from Nemesis
Last race: SA 6F Dirt Good DDCQ – 8th
The second colt to make it into the final for Nemesis, and another that has been lightly raced. Just 11 runs, 8 in qualifiers, winning 1 along the way. Preference for dirt is not a concern as he boasts top form on turf, winning a grade 2 over 5f turf. Likely to be on the pace he might just be running low on speed as he hits the line.
Summary:
I have to go with current form when evaluating the results; it’s very difficult to get these back on track once form has dropped and almost impossible at this top level of competition.
